Sometimes the absolute best moments in life happen in the most mundane places. Meet Sasaki, a perpetually exhausted, middle-aged salaryman whose stressful corporate life is slowly draining his soul. The only ray of sunshine in his bleak routine is Yamada.

The incredibly cheerful and bright cashier at his neighborhood supermarket whose warm smile is the ultimate cure for his daily fatigue. One brutal evening, desperate for a quick smoke and hoping to catch a glimpse of his favorite cashier, Sasaki discovers Yamada has already clocked out. Slouching into the secluded smoking area behind the store, he is approached by Tayama, a cool, edgy woman rocking piercings, a leather jacket, and a carefree attitude. As the two spark up and share a quiet conversation under the night sky, a beautiful, comforting friendship begins to bloom. What Sasaki completely fails to realize is that the smoking rebel Tayama and the sweet cashier Yamada are the exact same person.
